Hi,

I'm an avid RC car enthusiast here in Doha. I was wondering were can we built an off- road race track for us to play. I found lots of hobby shops here but I was surprise because hobby shops only sell parts and kits but do not have the facilities for the RC Car enthusiast, although there are parking lots  but still we have to compete with the Cricket enthusiast as well. We built a race track before somewhere in Doha Golf Club and we are gather every Friday to play until we encourage most of the RC car enthusiast to join but unfortunately the place need to be converted to Road so we vacate the place. Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

I hope you guys can help us built a race track so we can pursue the hobby and expand the popularity of its nature form kids to adults... Wink Wink Wink

I hope Qatar Scientific Club can help us find a place to play and stay Smiley Smiley Smiley

Hi! I'm a newbie here in the forum too but not a newbie in the world of RC. I also support the campaign of electro about the construction of a purpose built race track. I've seen a lot of people playing RC in Qatar but it's really weird that there no facility to cater it.

I also think that with the number of RC enthusiasts in Qatar, it's about time to get more organized and start planning on making a race track. I hope everybody supports this campaign. This will surely promote the friendship and camaraderie and most specially sportsmanship between different nations.

Hope the Scientific Club of Qatar will hear our voices and support us with our plans.

More power to all the RC enthusiasts in Qatar!!!

Hi to all! I'm one of the regular rc addict here in Doha, and i'm also supporting electro's cause, we really need a permanent race track so we can enhance the growth of this wholesome hobby as well as the group.

Qatar Scientific Club is the best body to hear us because they are governing all rc related activities here in Doha Qatar. I'm planning to meet them personally to get there opinion re: our problem, hoping that they will have a positive response.

Guys just continue supporting our campaign and hope that we will have a better race track this year.

I got here with me now the new lay out of the Off road race track that we plan to build beside the old race track we have had at Doha Gulf Club. It's the best place we could have but the fact that it's just temporary as we all know.

We call on the attention of Qatar Scientific Club to help us set up or we can even coordinate to set up a place were we can gather for our pride and joy for the RC community not only for the expatriate and for the locals as well.

Hanz will meet them soon and hope we will have positive response. Let us all support this cause

Hello,

I am from australia and have been into RC cars and boats as long as i can remember. I may possibly be moving to Qatar for a work assignment. I am interested in joining an RC group while im in Qatar.
What are most commonly run in Qatar, cars, buggies or trucks?  On road or off road? Electric or nitro?
Also, whats the availability of kits and parts like in qatar? Are there many local RC vendors that supply kits, parts, tires, radio systems etc....

Kind regards
Brent

Thanks for the info Hanz,

I probably wont have enough room (or weight) in my luggage to bring any of my models over to Qatar. I dont mind 1/8th buggy, however they are an absolute mess to clean up!!

I may be a rebel and build a brushless 1/8th buggy to run!

Do you guys have organised and timed races or more of a casual run around?

regards
Brent

Hi electro,
I was at the track on friday for an hour or so. I spoke to one of the guys down there breifly. I may buy a buggy locally and run, or i might buy something online. The buggys in the shops in Qatar seem to be fairly expensive, however there is a fair waiting time if i buy online....

I was going to send my gear over from Australia, however there would be at least a 2 - 3 week waiting period..... Id like to have a run next week if i decide to buy locally.

Question - Do you guys still race in Summer when it gets hot?

regards
Brent

Hi Brent,

I'm the one you've talk with last Friday Wink Wink Wink I hope you like how my Ofna Hyper 8 buggy Run. I'm still on the process setting it up. Considerably Ok for a while...

You mentioned that you have an RC8 Team Associated. I love that buggy but due to parts  availability I settled to have an Ofna Hyper 8 for parts support locally.

Yeah your right, buying on-line need time. Buying in a Amain hobbies, delivery period will be 10-12 days ship through USPS Express Mail.

Buying in Tower Hobbies, delivery period will take 4-5 days, but Dam expensive shipping because its UPS Air.

Yes, even summer we play and gathered every Friday around past 4 PM so its not that hot.

Are you going to visit this Friday??? I'll introduce you to the rest of the guys...Welcome to Qatar RC Group Grin Grin Grin
