If you have the space in your luggage, it should be cheaper getting it from Malaysia. If you are not keen about a brand new one, there are classifieds deals popping up here and on QatarLiving.com for RC car sales, which you may find attractive. But that would involve some waiting !
I am a car newbie, but I have seen all sorts of cars used in the desert. Bajas are popular.

Normally this is not an issue. We travel in and out with transmitters, and we have NEVER been questioned about them so far. But if you get them shipped in, especially EMS where it is inspected in Airport customs instead of Central Post Office customs, then you have a good chance of having to get a letter from the QSC.

Fuel is mostly available. Spare parts would depend on the models, and I am sure some of the other car enthusiasts can tell us what are the popular models for which spares are available locally.

Thank you anwar and other folks for helping me out. I am confused with some many option but it appears the basic truck HPI from Tiawan made range could be a good start for me. Going to try other places tomarrow, However appericate if other users share what are common cars in Qatar so spare parts won't be issue for me
also what spare should i bring from here, what common things get messed up?
