Recently, a fellow flyer here in Doha met with a pretty severe accident while trying to setup a Trex 450 electric heli.  He required close to 10 stitches on his hands.  He was a long time plank flyer, but this was the first time he was setting up electric helis.

Here are some points to note if you are new to setting up electric helicopters.

1) On Futaba radios, you have to set the throttle channel (ch 3) to reverse for these electric helis.

2) If is highly recommended that you either secure the heli on the skids to the ground, or take off the main blades while you are doing the initial setup and testing (ie, while you are making sure all the servos are working in the right direction etc).  Obviously, you will need the blades while you are doing pitch curves etc.

In any case, please be careful with these things, and take the help of an experienced heli flyer during the initial build/setup.
