Thats really great to hear that one of your friend is flying AXN from hobby king http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8359 did he buy that online from hobby king.

I should buy a filght simulator along with AXN for practice, and then after practicing I can go with fuel planes?

Is there any rc flying training institute in QATAR? which can be of more help in learning?

Yes, my brother has one, and this friend has one.  Both came from HobbyCity.  You will move on to other planes for sure, that is just natural in this hobby.  And that is the case whether you start with electric or nitro !

Here is a thread on the other forum that we maintain (with a focus on India), all about AXN.

http://www.rcindia.org/electric-planes/axn-floater-clouds-fly-from-hobbycity/

Yes, a simulator really really helps.

No institute in Qatar. Training is done by some staff of the hobby shops.  There was a resource person in the QSC who offered training earlier, but he moved out of Qatar and there is a new gentleman in place. Not sure if he offers training, but he is a really person to deal with.

Or you can tag along to the field, and someone will pitch in with help.  I try to do that whenever I can.

FLIGHT SIMULATOR

There are many different FLIGHT SIMULATORs AVAILABLE both online and locally (hobby shops in Qatar), some of them are very expensive and others are reasonabbly priced. What I understand is that there are two types of FMS BASIC and ADVANCED. Does it make big difference in using advanced FMS?

Few online Flight Simulators:

E-Sky 4 CH Flight Simulator Training Kit For Airplanes and Helicopters w/ USB Port
http://www.nitroplanes.com/e4chflsitrki.html

New RC Tech 6 CH Flight Simulator Remote Control w/ Software for Helicopters/ Airplanes.http://www.nitroplanes.com/newrcte6chfl.html

Great Planes RealFlight G4.5 InterLink Elite Mode 2

Free online Flight Simulator:

http://www.flying-model-simulator.com/ you can download the software and use your keyboard to fly,(well thats not much helpfull because you need a real Remote Control to practice your skills)

The important thing is that you learn to drive, does not matter much which car you do it in Wink

Please confirm which radio you are getting.  FMS will work with pretty much all radios. You may have to get the right cable, or you can build one.

And some of the radios offered by HobbyCity comes with FMS, you can see them if you read the description of the radios.

Dear Anwar,

I am ordering HK-7X 2.4Ghz 7ch w/ 5 Model Memory TX & RX (Mode 2) http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=10186 along with AXN, will it work for FMS too?

you mentioned that your brother and your friend bought from Hobby City (I saw your video of AXN, quiet nicely done with all that wind) how long it took to ship from hongkong to doha and what mode of shipping did u choose for safer shipping and the cost?

I am concerned that even HobbyCity does not provide a download location for the manual of this TX (ie, transmitter), so I cannot be sure if sims are supported.  But as a rule, I would expect it to work, with or without some pain/effort.

Since you are getting a simple TX, you can also consider the 6 channel version at half the price.  Many people are using it, and although it lacks the LCD display and all programming is done using a PC/laptop, it works well.  When you are ready, you can always get a better one.  I know the 6 channel one works with sims for sure.  The inconvenience is that the setup needs a laptop, but you generally set up a plane once and then forget about it.  Trims etc which are adjusted in flight can still be adjusted on the field directly on the TX.

Please be sure to get multiple batteries, as charging each will take 45 minutes or more.

I think 2 to 3 LIPO batteries for 2300 mAH for the plane and 1 1450 mAH for the Radio will be fine.

approx flying time for 2300 mAH for AXN Jet is around 15 to 20 minutes, should have good fun with 3 in hand  Wink

Dear Anwar,

I am having problem in purchasing from Hobby King. I tried to pay with direct credit card (cahoo), it did not work and showed me error of transaction failed. (I received sms from my bank saying the account is debited with that amount)
