I am thinking about taking up the hobby and learning to fly RC Helicopters.

What are the rules about where you can fly / learn. Is it restricted to the AlKhor RC Airfield only?

Hi Scott,

Flying officially sanctioned only at the field past Al Khor, having said this I always fly in a empty desert space with no issues. I used to fly in the area next to Lusail for a while and recently I had some cops come up to me and ask to change place because I was near some projects. So its not really an issue, even if flying in more restricted areas you will just be asked to fly else where.

The field past Al Khor would be a great place to meet people though if you are just starting out. There aren't many of us into Helis unfortunately so we would be glad to have more people flying them!

I would be glad to help you out with anything if you need. I pm'd you my email address. Feel free to get in touch.

Hi Aziz.

Sorry to jump in another Scott here, I am a new RC hobby air craft owner and wondered if you can show on the map of Qatar where exactly the RC flight club is located.

I have heard they have a new location, I have been to the fullsize Al Khor airport is this the correct place where i can fly my RC aircraft which is electric?

Hope you can help.

Scott

My pleasure. You can go anytime. There is usually more people there on weekends though, either early morning around 6-9am or afternoons 3.30 - 5.30 pm

Hope to see you there soon. I will be there tomorrow morning flying my helicopter.
