Hi Everyone,
Just to introduce myself. my name is Rashid from Brunei. We have been in Qatar since March, and finally settling down. I work in the oil/gas industry.

A short history
I had my frist real RC in 1999, a kyosho super 10 nitro. But the hobby didnt last longer than 6 months as there were little chance at all to play due to my work. But now 12 years later, Influenced by my friends back home, they recommended me to relive the hobby again and also I would like to introduce my 5 year old son Rafi to the sport (maybe he can continue the RC hobby once his dad retires Smiley )

They recommended me to try Drifting as it seems quite fun, so taking their advice,  I just ordered two drift RTR sets, one is an HPI sprint to drift and the other the is the Tamiya TT-01ED, hopefully aramax wont have any problem sending it here from the states.

I visited the RC track in Qipco this afternoon and am very impressed with the track. Also had a chance with Fergie. As was told, there was no track for drifting in Qatar at the moment, so I guess drifting will be confined to our living room for now, until one day someone will give a nice parking spot to the RC Qatar (insha-allah).

So hi to everyone. Hope you all can show me and my son a few pointers in controlling the RC's cars. Next time i visit, I will bring my son with me as I know he enjoys seeing the RC cars.

P.S I may have another friend Ahmed who may be joining you all, as currently he is still trying to choose his first nitro truck buggy.

Hi guys,
Here are the cars. Just got them during Eid holidays and been running them. Not much good at it but very fun non the less.

The blue car is the Tamiya TT01ED with a 260z classic body
Black one is the HPI sprint to drift with a camaro body

The HPI is all ready to run, include batteries and charger, but charger is 110V, thus I ordered a few chargers and extra batteries. I couldnt wait for the shipping and off to Salwa road hobby shop and got my self the HPI reactor 500. Charge the 2000mah plasma battery and found its a 2500 mah battery instead before peak detection activated a 5mv yea (^_^)

The Tamiya is not totally ready to run. You will need to supply it with a battery for remote and car.

Overall first impression (bare in mind, I am very new to this RC thing).

The Tamiya is shaft driven, so its quite noisy when its running around, they use hard compound tires with no threads at all. The HPI unit is belt driven so its less noisy, and tires are threaded!! wow (I thought they are all standard bold). Both use a 540 size motor, somehow I get the feeling the HPI 15T motor is the more powerful one. Indication of shorter running time, I use a 4300mah nimh on the HPI and a 2000mah on the Tamiya. Both lasted about 1 hour of playtime (cant really full blast in the house, but a good indication of how the different motor uses the battery).

I notice, the Tamiya require longer full throttle to get a 180 deg turn compared to the HPI (which just require a blip of the throttle). Now just trying to get the car to do doughnuts properly.

Oh the tamiya also comes with an FM Transmitter, where the HPI had the 2.4GHz unit, the 2.4Ghz unit seems to be more responsive and I found it to have less inteference from the surrounding. Imagine my suprise when the 260z fully accelerated by itself and bash to one of the doors, when i was just holding the transmitter. spooky.. ('.')

I'll post more close up of the cars once I taken some more pics.
