Hello everybody,

I will be moving to Qatar in the near future as I got offered a job there. Is there a problem to import, as freight, rc stuff like my planes and helis and most of all electronics like my transmitter?
From what I read on here it might be good to first get a membership card before sending everything over.
Looking forward to hear from you and to meet some new flying buddies.

Regards,

David

You need to get a membership at the RC Flying Club, easy to do. Its not a problem sending your stuff over. Most of the time it will come straight through. Occasionally customs will ask for a clearance from the club, at which point you take your shipping list to them and they will give you a clearance letter for customs.

There is a great bunch of guys that fly regularly here, mostly planes. I'm a Heli guy myself, and there are a few others.

Look forward to welcoming you to the club!

I am considering a job offer in Qatar (based near the old Doha airport and I don't want to live too far from work!) and of course the need to continue flying is important. I've flown in the UK (Carlisle), UAE (Al-Lisaili, DXB) and the USA (Largo, Florida) and am a member of the BFMA and AMA. I fly nitro, petrol, one electric and have a jet to build. I will not be bringing all my gear over if I come so will be in the market to buy some pre-loved stuff to get me going. I'll trawl through the site to get an idea of what is what but any advice about joining a club would be appreciated.
Regards,
