I had ordered before all my 3 RC's (cars/trucks) online at US via Qpost...I did not have any problem getting the package in Qpost. However, my last order was via UPS and suddenly Customs was asking me a letter of Approval from Qatar Scientific Club (QSC). Is QSC really needed? Please advise better solution, I really appreicate it.

Thanks.

Once they ask for the approval from QSC, I think you will have to provide it  Sad

There is no fees; you just need to be a member, and there might be a bit of delay if the right personnel is out-of-office.  It is just a little bit of hassle, but you are lucky that you did not need it the first 3 times  Wink

Thanks Anwar.
Do you know if QSC opens on Saturdays? Do you have their contact details?

This thread has their phone number : http://rcqatar.com/rc-in-qatar/rc-airplane-model-building-competition-by-the-qatar-scientific-club/

I believe they are closed on both Fridays and Saturdays.  Their working hours are around 8am to noon and then around 5pm to 7pm (not completely sure, so I have added margins of error).  Timings may be different during Ramadan.

Sorry for being silly. I just paid for my membership Qrs. 300, is the reciept for payment enough to present to the Customs and get my RC truck? Or should I present a letter or something that certifies their-QSC approval?

Nope, sorry Sad You have to take the notice/paper that you recieved from customs to the QSC, and they will give you a letter (in Arabic) that references the customs notification number, stating how many cars/planes/helis are being imported.

Your reciept for QSC membership is NOT a substitute for an import approval letter from QSC (which is a very specific purpose document).

I went back to QSC to get this document but I was told to come back on Monday, which is I am afraid to delay and delay again because ramadan is coming very soon. Do you know of somebody in QSC who could help me expedite the paper so I could get my RC? Appreicate your help so much.

Also, in the future order from outside Qatar, does this means I need to get QSC approval again to present to customs?

Cheers

If they insisted on Monday, there must be a geniune reason.

Yes, you have to get a letter everytime the customs folks ask you.  But note that they do not ask for such a letter on all imports (just like you were not asked the first few times).
