Hello my RC Flying friends!

i am an Austrian and i`m going to be in Qatar for about a month, as i`m a pilot working for a company that has an airplane chartered to the ISF. i woud like to bring my T-Rex250 for the free days, because i really can`t be without anything RC for that long Cheesy. I`ve read on this forum that one needs a QSC membership for a license and that one needs to have a qatari ID for that, well i don`t know if i`ll get one as my stay is kind of short. Is there a sort of guest membership ?
We will be operating with the (fullsize) plane from a desert strip close to sealine resort in the south for parachuting, and i don`t want to get into troubles for "wild" flying off approved flying sites.

best Regards
Phillip

With something as small as the Trex 250, it should not be a problem (please do not hold me accountable for this opinion from a legal point of view!)... if you are flying in open/deserted areas that are away from everything (people, buildings, cars, planes!).

Such size (and even bigger ones) are sold widely in local department stores (although for indoor use mostly, but I see them being flown outside also).

But I would not know anything about flying them at places where full scale aircraft operations take place.  We try to stay away from airports, so it would be better to take the advice of whoever is the boss of your airstrip Smiley   With the 250 being so small, I don't foresee problems there too, as long as you are not flying DURING the operation of full scale aircraft.

Thanks for your fast response Oh and many thanks for being such an active promoter and helper to this hobby !!

The good thing is that being teh pilot the plane is on teh ground when i fly the Heli Wink so it´s not a problem, there is also no other traffic at that particular strip in teh desert other than us.

great i`m looking forward to this visit a lot! It will be a great break from european winter with snow and cold and thus very little flying. I hope i`ll be able on one of the free days to meet up with some of your on one of teh more active flying fileds, meeting new people who enjoy teh same hobby is always a pleasure!

cheers

If yours is the only aircraft operating from that strip, then it sounds like a done deal !  I hope your RC flying inspires more ISF folks to take interest in this hobby Wink

You are welcome to join us for flying sessions when you are free, please let us know after you are here and your schedule has been set Smiley

I also talked to your colleague who was piloting the above plane, can't remember his name though. He said you are coming in a week !

Hello Guys!

i`ve been in here now for a week, but unfortunately only got 1 akku flown on my little T-Rex.. too windy all the time which was anoying and the times it wasnt windy i was too busy. The fligth itselfe was on teh edge of being no fun due to wind too and i had a bit of a tail problem... the heli flew great at sub freezing temps but apparently it doens´t like teh nice temperatures here Cheesy

Welcome to Qatar Smiley  Nice pictures too !

Would love to hitch a ride in your office, if that works out Wink

Even the 450 size is somewhat carried away in the winds here.  The trick is to fly early in the morning, before the sun has started to make the day warm.  We have noticed that on many days when the forecast showed high winds, it would still be pretty calm right after dawn, before the sun has broken out.

Sure a bigger heli helps, but carrying them around is not as easy proposition.

Should work just fine anwar Smiley just give me a call on +97433840460 if i`m not on it ask for Phillip.

i got another akku of flying in and my girlfriend too before it got too windy yesterday. i`m still plagued by not perfectly holding tail and some tail down rainbows turned into piroetting rainbows Cheesy it`s strange, usually when cold everything gets tight and hard to move, but in cold the tail was holding very well with 50% gain (DX-8 gain goes from 0-100 and 0 to -100) now i can get hardly 30% without wag and the tail swings out randomly 45°... dunno, why that is, i`ll maybe have to get a GP750 again as i used the well working on on my X-50 and had to use a GY401 on the 250.

i thought about the belt... the boom gets longer in warm so it should have tightened compared to the sub freezing i had before... but it`s worth a try Smiley
i`m running 100 - 86 -76 -86 -100 in idle up.. usually wag doesn`t get much better with more RPM but i can try that too. i`ll also have to see if teh tail doesn`t need a tad of lubrication... i didn`t lube it for a while.
