Hello all,

I'm not new in Qatar, only in RC... well, I'm really a noob.
I was planning to start an hobby, and since I work in aviation, what better than rc airplanes ?  Grin Grin Grin
I read carefully most of the posts, regarding legal requirements, best places to buy my first rc, and so on...
But I also look on the web, specially on QCAA website, and I think regulations might have changed recently, because it's written on QCAA FAQ's

Quote
What are the procedures required to obtain a license for an over 250gms aircraft ?

·        Applying for a license from the Qatar RC Sports Center.

·        Obtaining a hobby practice license.

·        Registration of the aircraft at the Qatar RC Sports Center.

https://www.caa.gov.qa/en-us/Pages/Faqs.aspx

Now, I don't know if the QATAR RC Sports Center is the one in Al-Khor, or the one in Al-Gharafa, I'll stop-by in the one in Al-Gharafa and try to find out.

I also plan to go Hobbyland and see what they have there, I was thinking an electric trainer would be nice to start

Any info or updates, I'll share

Regards

Hi! I also want to know more details about getting a valid permit. I have a DJI Spark and Dobby Drone. As most of you know this is not a pro drone. It's purely for hobby. Do we still need to get license for this? Can you please post the steps here?

*Annual membership in Qatar RC Sports Center is QAR500
*Some information, as of today I can see from the QCAA FAQ website -> https://www.caa.gov.qa/en-us/Pages/Faqs.aspx

What are the procedures required to obtain a license for an over -250gms aircraft ?
-Applying for a license from the Qatar RC Sports Center.
-Obtaining a hobby practice license.
-Registration of the aircraft at the Qatar RC Sports Center.

How can I obtain an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) license?
-Regulations in this regard can be reviewed through the web site of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Regarding operating Radio-controlled planes and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) by persons and amateurs, it must be done through the Qatar R/C sport center after obtaining a license to practice that hobby and after registering the plane there.

----So if this is mentioned in the QCAA website, can somebody confirm that we don't need to register drones if it is below 250grams? There are hundreds of drones which is less than 250grams and being used for hobby. One of the famous small drone is the ZeroTech Dobby Drone that can fit in your pocket. The other term is the Pocket Selfie Drone. It's absurd if you will need to register this small drone to QCAA and RC sports center then pay QAR500 just to fly and take a selfie.

Hopefully, someone replies here. Thanks!
